Deans Pond Rules

The lifeguard and Board Members have the authority to enforce rules. The lifeguard will report all offenders to the Lifeguard Supervisor. All offenses will be discussed by the Board for possible further action taking into account the safety of all Pond members. First offense: offender issued a warning. Second offense: offender will be asked to leave the Pond property.

General Rules

  1. Pond closes at dusk, except during Association sponsored activities. No person is permitted on the property after dark.

  2. Children must be at least 13 years old to be on Pond property without a parent or guardian present. If babysitting younger siblings, they must take responsibility for their own and their siblings' behavior.

  3. Drink responsibly.

  4. No smoking on the beach, in picnic and playground areas or boats. Dispose of butts safely in a container.

  5. No marijuana usage on Pond property.

  6. Pushing, hitting, dunking, foul language, and general roughhousing are NOT permitted.

  7. Clean up after yourself: use trashcans and recycle bin. Do not leave food on tables or the ground, as it attracts bugs and animals.

  8. The dumpster is for Pond usage only, not for household trash.

  9. We are not responsible for personal property left at the Pond.

  10. No climbing trees, swinging on or breaking branches.

  11. Guests must be accompanied by a member. Neighbors coming continually as guests must purchase their own membership.

  12. Weapons are not permitted on Pond property. Knives may be used for fishing only.

  13. Use common sense, have respect for others, and keep safety in mind when on and using Pond property.

  14. No bonfires except during Pond sponsored activities.


Swim, Beach & Playground Areas

  1. NO swimming without a lifeguard on duty. Swim hours during the summer are generally: W: 2-7pm, Th-Su: 12-5pm. No lifeguard on Mondays and Tuesdays.

  2. Adults must supervise younger children, especially on the playground equipment. The lifeguard is not a babysitter.

  3. Children must pass a swim test administered by the lifeguard to swim out to the raft alone. Any child who does not pass must wear a life jacket (no noodles or water wings) and be accompanied by an adult to swim out to the raft.

  4. Swimming is permitted in the designated swim area. No swimming under or behind the raft.

  5. Swimmers must leave the water when thunder, lightning, heavy rain or fog is in the area or when instructed by the lifeguard.

  6. Children not yet toilet-trained must wear a diaper at all times in the water and on the beach.

  7. Oversized flotation devices that hide the swimmer from the lifeguard's view are not allowed

  8. Dogs are NOT allowed in the swim or beach areas. Curb your dog!

  9. Diving/jumping is permitted off the front of the raft only, one at a time, and when no one is in the water in the immediate area.

  10. Super soakers are not allowed.

  11. No throwing of stones, sand, or other objects. Sand stays on the beach... not in the water or on the grass.

  12. No glass bottles or other glass items are permitted on the beach.

  13. Digging in the sand is limited to a depth of no more than one foot and should be filled in when done.

  14. All children must use care when using the playground equipment, paying attention to the safety of themselves and others.

  15. Toys must be placed back in the plastic container with the lids closed.

Boat Usage/Fishing

  1. When boating: Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 13 must wear a life vest.

  2. Boat capacity is limited to the number of seats in the boat.

  3. Passengers must be discharged on the beach, NOT at the dock.

  4. Boats must be pulled back up on shore and turned over. Oars/paddles must be put back in the shed or on the outside of it.

  5. Any boat found floating unsecured, not in the boat area, or misused in any way, will be taken out of use until further notice.

  6. Life vests must be placed back in the plastic containers and the lids closed.

  7. Boats and fishing are not permitted in the swim area.

  8. We are a "Catch and Release" Pond.

  9. Do not leave fishing lines, hooks, etc. on the ground or in the water.

Vehicles

  1. No parking in front of the wood rails near the picnic tables. Park on the right side of the parking lot.

  2. Be careful when entering and exiting the parking lot, as children frequently play there.

  3. ATVs, dirt bikes, etc. are NOT allowed on Pond property, except for ATV's for maintenance purposes.

Misuse or destruction of the Association’s property or of private properties surrounding the Pond area will not be tolerated. Abusers will be required to pay for damages or replacement of property and/or risk expulsion from the Association. The Board reserves the right to meet with parents and their children to discuss issues relating to the family and the Association.
